Tax Regime
Old vs New Tax Regime Calculator
Compare illustrative old-regime and new-regime tax on the same annual income. Deductions you enter apply only to the old-regime column.
Comparing regimes
Both columns use the same illustrative slab tables. The saving is old-regime tax minus new-regime tax. A negative saving means the old regime is lower in this sketch.
Income tax model
Tax = slab tax − rebate + cess
Taxable income is annual income minus the standard deduction (and extra old-regime deductions if entered). Cess is applied after rebate.
Frequently asked questions
Are these tax figures current law?
No. Slabs, rebates and deductions are illustrative assumptions with a last-updated date. They are not verified as current. Confirm on the Income Tax Department website or with a professional before filing.
Which regime is “better”?
The lower tax in this model is labelled, but the real choice also depends on deductions you actually claim, exemptions and future law. This is not advice to select a regime.
Why doesn’t the new regime use my 80C figure?
In this simplified model the new regime uses the configured standard deduction only. Old-regime deductions are the amount you type.
