FD
FD Calculator
Estimate fixed deposit interest and maturity value from deposit amount, rate, tenure and compounding frequency.
How the calculator works
A fixed deposit pays a stated rate for a locked tenure. When interest is reinvested, the deposit compounds. This page uses the compound-interest identity with the frequency you select: yearly, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly.
Fixed deposit formula
A = P × (1 + r / n)^(n × t)
P is the deposit, r is the annual interest rate, n is the number of compounding periods per year, and t is tenure in years.
Example
₹1,00,000 at 8% for 5 years, compounded quarterly, grows to about ₹1,48,595. The same rate compounded yearly would be slightly lower. Frequency is not a detail to ignore.
Important considerations
Senior-citizen rates, callable deposits and tax-saving FDs have extra rules. Breaking an FD early usually cuts the rate. Confirm tenure, payout option and compounding with the issuer before you invest.
Frequently asked questions
Which compounding frequency should I pick?
Use the frequency printed on the deposit receipt. Many Indian bank FDs compound quarterly. Annual payout FDs are closer to yearly compounding.
Are these bank rates?
No. You enter the rate. Banks publish their own grids by tenure and customer type, and they change.
Does the calculator include TDS?
No. Tax deducted at source and premature-withdrawal penalties are not applied. Treat the maturity amount as a gross estimate.
